Benefits of Unrefined Salt

Question: What is unrefined salt, and what are its benefits?

Dr. Brownstein's Answer:

Unrefined salt is the only salt that retains its nutrient content. Celtic Sea Salt, for example, preserves the vital balance of the ocean minerals and contains over 80 minerals that the body needs to optimize its function. Unrefined salt often has a pink, grayish, or a darker color to it and will also be moist.

Benefits of unrefined salt include:

• Prevents osteoporosis

• Regulates blood pressure

• Acts as an alkalinizing agent

• Balances blood sugar

• Helps relax body for sleep

• Improves brain function

• Prevents muscle cramps

• Prevents varicose veins

The most common salt found in grocery stores is table salt, which is refined white salt and is very fine. It contains additives such as iodine, which is known to prevent goiter. What is not as well-known is that refined table salt also contains sugar and aluminum and provides little nutritional value. Refined salt is usually white because it has been bleached.

I recommend you use only unrefined salt.
