DON'T LET OUR WOLVES FADE AWAY

It's overwhelming. Wolves in all corners of our country are under the gun, and even recent victories have been bittersweet. Wolves in the Northern Rockies and Greater Yellowstone, so recently restored to their rightful place on the endangered species list, now face proposed anti-wolf legislation in Congress and hateful extremists urging their followers to ignore federal law and kill wolves illegaly.

Adopt a Wolf and help save these incredible animals.

Wildlife Services, the federal agency who helped nearly eradicate wolves from our country last century plans to repeat history by killing entire packs from helicopters, using poison gas to kill newborn pups and their mothers and other barbaric means of slaughter.

But they aren't the only wolves in trouble.

In Alaska, another bloody season of aerial wolf hunting is set to begin, instead of more a balanced, science-based management program for a healthier population. In the Southwest, there were just 42 precious Mexican wolves, or Lobos, at last count - a tiny and critical number still at risk from ruthless poaching. In North Carolina, several endangered red wolves have recently been found dead - a devestating blow to this rare and beautiful species.

I know it seems insurmountable - like there is no safe haven for these amazing and important animals. But Defenders of Wildlife is a results-driven organization, having spent the last sixty years fighting for wolf survival. We don't quit, because we cannot fail.

When you adopt a wolf through our Wildlife Adoption & Gift Center, you help us fight for wolf survival no matter where they live or the challenges they face.

Every adoption will help the fight for wolves by helping us:

Work with law enforcement and federal officials to find and prosecute lawless wolf killers;

Build support for wolves across the country through media outreach and public education;

Use proven non-lethal techniques to help wolves and livestock producers to coexist.

Not only that, but with the education materials and cuddly plush reminder that comes with a wolf adoption, you are helping to teach others about wolves, the dangers they face, and what can be done to protect them, inspiring lifelong conservation values in compassionate people just like you.

We've got a long road ahead of us - but nothing will stop our fight for wolf survival. Make a wolf adoption today for someone special in your life and help us preserve these animals for future generations.

For the Wild Ones,

Rodger Schlickeisen
President
Defenders of Wildlife
