As we age, our mental power starts to decline

I want you to try something.
Put your hands together as if in prayer. You’ll notice that one hand is slightly longer than the other. Now hold up the shorter hand, look at it and say “grow longer.” Then put your hands together again and you’ll see that they match perfectly.

This is an example of something important I want to show you today. It’s called the “finger growing” exercise. It’s part of a technique called “Genius Mind” and it just might change your life for the better.

You see, as we age, our mental power starts to decline. Unstable molecules called free radicals attack our healthy brain cells and drain them of energy and strength. As a result, our thinking and reaction time begin to slow down.

But did you know that you can stop this process, even enhance your mental performance, no matter how old you are?

All it takes is good nutrition and a bit of mental exercise to:

Stimulate your thought process
Boost learning capacity
Increase retention
Improve memory
Eating certain “brain foods” like eggs, fish and blueberries helps because they’re rich in antioxidants that fight off the free radicals. But we’re talking about taking your brain’s performance to another level, not just maintaining it.

And before you can do that, you may need to learn how to learn again.

Unlock Your Mental Potential

When you were a small child, your brain was like a sponge. It absorbed any and all information that you were exposed to through all your senses. You learned through experience and your knowledge and skills grew exponentially.

Ironically, as soon as you began school, your ability to learn became more of a challenge. You were taught what others thought you should know about the world, instead of relying on your own intuition.

This discourages true learning because you develop fears of failure and comfort zones that prevent you from realizing your potential. The remedy is to immerse yourself in creative primal thinking.

Paul R. Scheele, cofounder of Learning Strategies, has developed what he calls the Natural Brilliance Protocol.1 It’s a four-step formula to help you stimulate your brain, overcome learning barriers and achieve personal and professional success in your life:

Step 1. Release – Take a deep breath and then exhale, letting go whatever fear and uncertainty you may have. The object is to go beyond your comfort zone.

Step 2. Notice – Consider your choices and options, realizing there are no limits to what you can learn and/or accomplish.

Step 3. Respond – Take action, making a conscious effort to move toward a desired outcome. Don’t be afraid of failure. If you do fail, understand why you failed, then try again and keep trying until you succeed.

Step 4. Witness – Know why you succeeded and apply that knowledge going forward.

A Pathway to Genius

Taking this brain-rejuvenating process a step further, Scheele developed “Genius Mind.”

In this uniquely interactive program, he explains how parts of the brain work … and how you can use this knowledge to further your academic, financial and relationship success.

He also shares all kinds of exercises and techniques that boost whole brain learning and give your brain a “workout.” For example:

Start each day with the right mental attitude. As soon as you rise, say these words with conviction: “I am alive, alert, awake – joyous and enthusiastic about this day. I fairly SIZZLE with zeal and enthusiasm and spring forth.”
Balance your brain and body. Try this centering exercise in a sitting position: Close your eyes and place your hands on your lap. Be aware of your breathing and your heartbeat. Send a sense of gratitude to yourself and out into the world. See yourself in the future successful and fulfilled.

To Your Good Health,
Al Sears, MD
