Give in to Midnight Munchies

Remember the diet rule to never eat after 9 p.m.? Turns out this advice doesn't always ring true.

New thinking says you should eat when you are hungry, even if it's in the wee hours of the night. Doing so will help fight feelings of deprivation that can lead to an all-out snack attack.

The trick is to establish if you're truly hungry or possibly eating for the wrong reasons. If an apple doesn't hold the same appeal as ice cream or chips, beware. True hunger doesn't drive you toward salt or sweets.

So go ahead and give in to midnight munchies if your stomach is really rumbling. Just be sure to make the same wise food choices you would any other time of day.
