Voices for the Wild

BioGems Defenders lend their voices to endangered wildlife and wild places

"Backpacking in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge was my first true wilderness experience and I was profoundly touched." -- Phyllis and Michael Mains

"I am a defender because of my children and my grandchildren and all of the generations that will follow after I am gone." -- Pamela Colson

"As a child I remember going up to my grandparents' cabin in the Trinity Mountains every summer to go camping, hiking, river rafting and fishing." -- Kerry Wickman

These are just a few quotes from the hundreds of inspirational stories we received when we invited BioGems Defenders to take part in our new Voices for the Wild feature. We created Voices for the Wild so that people like you would have a place to tell your stories and share why you joined our Save BioGems campaign. Whether you told us how nature influenced your childhood, shared a personal encounter with wildlife, or just wanted others to know why preserving wilderness is so important, your submissions left us enthralled, humbled and inspired. If you haven't had a chance, we hope you'll take a minute to read a few stories from your fellow online activists, and submit your own story today.
