Q: What's the most effective exercise to get rid of love handles?

You can't spot train love handles, but you can focus on core exercises that will tighten and tone your entire abdominal region. Try movements that incorporate some type of twist or target the lower abs. Be sure to emphasize the exhale as you twist or come up in a move (envision the tightening of a corset as you do this). Your goal is to create muscle that tightens and pulls in your frame.
Of course, you also need to pay attention to your diet, so keep an eye on your sugar consumption — aim for no more than 15 grams a day.
Try a few of my favorite moves: the oblique v-up and weighted (or standard) Russian twist.
