Rats that can sniff out TB

Researchers are testing the efficacy of having the Gambian pouched rat used as a detection tool for tuberculosis as a means to promote testing in areas where laboratory tests are difficult to procure. The Gambian pouched rat can reportedly smell tuberculosis bacilli in far smaller concentrations in human phlegm than smear microscopy, currently the most commonly use technique in the developing world.
