A Thought Treatment Plant

I was reading a story about a water treatment plant, which is a facility that removes existing contaminants in the water, or reduces the concentration of such contaminants so the water becomes fit for its desired end-use. While reading, I had a thought about negative thinking: It would be beneficial if we all had something similar in our heads that I’m going to call a “Thought Treatment Plant.”

Just as water needs to have all dangerous elements removed before we drink it, I think our thoughts often need some cleansing before we verbalize them. This is particularly true when engaged in any passionate discussion with a spouse, friend or loved one. As I always say, you can never take back something you say in the heat of battle, but you can spend the rest of your life apologizing for saying it. If you engage your inner censor and activate your Thought Treatment Plant, you’ll be far less likely to contaminate the precious waters surrounding your personal life.

Wishing You Great Health,
