Losing weight—and then gaining it back again—can be a vicious cycle. We've all experienced dropping a few pounds, only to put it all back on again after giving in to cravings, exercising less or simply not being as diligent with our eating choices. This yo-yo dieting isn't just frustrating, it can also be tough on our bodies.
Studies have suggested that cycling up and down the scale may lead to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and more. What does all of this mean for your diet? If you exercise and eat well and your doctor has approved it, you may want to focus less on dropping a few pounds and more on being the healthiest you can be at your current weight.
In other words, don't sweat losing the extra weight if you keep going up and down the scale. Your overall health may be better if you stay at the higher weight without as many fluctuations.
