Question: Is there any harm in a very low blood pressure reading (93/50)? Is that good or does it warrant some medical attention?
Dr. Brownstein's Answer:
We need an adequate blood pressure to pump enough blood to the tissues and cells in order to provide nutrients to the organs.
Too-low blood pressure can result in a sub-optimal blood supply to crucial organs. The end result of too-low blood pressure is fatigue and organ problems such as kidney failure or heart failure.
Blood pressure rises with age. A general rule is to add 90 to your age to find what the average systolic blood pressure (top number) should be.
