Three New Ways To Save Money On Gas

It shouldn’t be a surprise that other businesses want in on selling gas; the love affair with the automobile isn’t going to change, and while vehicles are becoming more efficient, we’re a long way off from fully electric cars. So how can you take advantage of the new price competition with supermarkets, warehouse stores and credit cards all getting in the game? Here are three ways to save a little extra money at the pump:

1. Loyalty Rewards At Supermarkets: Some grocery stores feature gas pumps as well, allowing you to use your rewards or discount card to save even more money. That savings can be even bigger if you also do your family grocery shopping there, too.

2. Warehouse Club Gas Stations: Sam’s Club and Costco have experimented with offering gas as well. While it might be tough to recoup all of the $40 annual membership fee in petrol alone, it can be very beneficial to existing members who already spend a lot of money there.

3. Gas Station Credit Cards: If you find yourself always filling up at the same station, or at least the same chain, there might be a credit card for you. Co-branded cards can save drivers money with each gallon purchased – as long as you pay off the bill in full at the end of every month.
