3 Ways to Trim Summer BBQ Calories

You know you'll be attending barbecues this summer—or even having your own—so what can you do to make sure they don't bust your diet? Here are three ways to slim down the barbecue offerings while satisfying your cravings for food fresh off the grill!

1. Skip the burgers and sausages. Instead, opt for turkey or veggie burgers, about 100 calories each. Pair them with a whole-wheat bun—or half a bun and served open face to save even more calories.

2. Ditch the potato, pasta and coleslaw salads. If they're made with mayo, you'll eat enough calories and fat to ruin your diet for the day. Instead, bring salads made with low-fat mayo or vinaigrette, or toss up a tasty bean salad to pack a protein punch.

3. Don't dip the veggies. Although a tray of veggies is extremely healthy, you'll ruin all the benefits if you dip them in a sauce on the side. Instead, offer veggies that can be grilled for a delicious taste sensation with calories to spare!
