Eat Bacteria to Lose Weight?

You may have heard that foods like yogurt and sauerkraut are healthy, but do you know why? They both contain probiotics, good bacteria that can aid in digestion. And there's even better news: A 2008 Stanford University study suggests that eating foods or supplements with probiotics may help you lose weight by balancing the bacteria in your digestive system.
Miso, tempeh and fermented and unfermented milk all naturally contain probiotics, and you can also find them added to many foods. Look for a statement that says the food contains "live and active cultures," such as lactobacillus or acidophilus.

Why not try satisfying your snack cravings with some probiotic yogurt mixed with honey or made into a smoothie, or maybe a soothing bowl of miso soup? As a bonus, you could also be aiding your weight-loss efforts!
