3 Ways to Justify Your Coffee Habit

Let's say you crave your cup—or two, or three—of joe every morning, but you're not convinced it's doing you more good than harm. We've pulled together the studies to support your morning (or afternoon) fix here!

1. Coffee's cancer-fighting power. Evidence suggests that coffee drinkers are 50 percent less likely than non-coffee drinkers to develop liver cancer. Other studies have shown reduced rates of cancers, including breast, colon and rectal.

2. Positive cardiovascular health. A study of 27,000 midlife women who drank one to three cups of coffee a day showed a reduction in their cardiovascular risk factors of 24 percent, compared to those who drank no coffee at all.

3. Coffee cuts diabetes risk. Coffee may cut the risk of developing diabetes by 50 percent. One caveat: The benefit was seen in people who drank five or more cups a day, which could come with other health risks.
