The 3 Worst Vending Machine Snacks

We all know the feeling. It's midafternoon, you're at work and you suddenly crave a pick-me-up. But you're having a crazy day and all you have time for is to hit the office vending machine. Here's the dilemma: Though admittedly convenient, many of the options there can blow your diet. Here's a look at the worst offenders in the battle of the vending machine snacks:

1. Doritos or Crunchy Cheetos?
Both are made of corn—and both are bad for you. But if you have to choose between them, go for the Doritos. Why? Because they come in a smaller bag—1.75 ounces versus 2.125 ounces for the Cheetos.
A better choice: Baked chips.

2. Twix or Reese's Peanut Butter Cups?
The peanut butter and chocolate in the Reese's win the day with the extra protein.
A better choice: Split your snack with a friend.

3. Kellogg's Apple Cinnamon Nutri-Grain Cereal Bar or Nature Valley Oats 'n Honey Granola Bars?
Though the cereal bar has fewer calories than the two granola bars that come in one package, the granola wins by a nose with its extra protein that may keep you fuller longer.

A better choice: Either of these snacks is better than most of what you'll find in any vending machine!
