If you're thinking about starting your day with a nice waffle drenched in maple syrup, you might want to think twice.
"One of the downfalls of syrup is it soaks into the crevices and crannies of waffles and you don't realize how much you're using," says Chicago nutritionist Dawn Jackson Blatner, R.D., author of The Flexitarian Diet.
Instead, try topping your waffles with a tablespoon of peanut butter for a tasty treat that packs a punch of protein.
