A Sweet, Slimming Treat

If you're craving a sweet, juicy fruit that's a little different from the norm, consider the mango. Mangos may conjure images of island beaches and palm trees, but domestic mangos are grown in Florida, and they're at their peak during summer (roughly from May through September).

1. Mangos are high in antioxidants, which can help protect against cancer, heart disease and other conditions.

2. They're a good source of fiber, which can help fill you up fast and prevent you from overeating other foods. (Plus, mangos can keep you regular!)

3. The omega-3 fatty acids in mangos can help decrease risk of heart disease and stroke.

4. Mangos are low in calories and fat, with only about 110 calories and 1 gram of fat in a medium-size fruit.

Try cutting up mango into your salad, eating it on top of your nonfat Greek yogurt or just munching on some delicious plain slices. You'll feel tropical—and healthy!—without booking a plane ticket!
