Perfectionism Can Kill: Try These Three Tips To Relax

New research has been released that shows focusing on every little detail and setting too high of expectations for ourselves can actually kill you. Those who strive at perfectionism are found to have a 51% greater risk of premature death than those who learn to relax.

If you’re a perfectionist that places too much pressure on yourself to succeed and have every detail meticulously thought out, here are three tips to learn how to sit back, relax, and learn to say “I’m not perfect.” You’ll be doing yourself a favor in the future.

Three simple tips to give you a relaxed state of mind:

1. Prioritize: You can’t be the best at everything, so decide on the things you really want to excel at and let everything else be what it is. Those unfair expectations only lead to more stress and disappointment if they aren’t achieved.

2. Move on: You won’t always operate at 100 percent and trying only wears you out more. If something doesn’t go your way, then walk away and learn from your mistakes to prepare for the next time.

3. Try something new: Perfectionists rarely step out of their comfort zone in order to avoid letdowns if things don’t happen a certain way. Learn to take on new challenges, especially if it scares you, so you can learn new experiences and broaden your knowledge.

Try these tips to learn to relax and lengthen your life span!
